Farewell to Andi Bonato!

My name is Andi, and I am a second-year law student who has been a legal intern at HCCA since June 2022. I am a fourth-generation Coloradan, and my deepest joy in life is experiencing the beauty of our state. After graduation, I plan on staying in Colorado and hope to pursue a career in environmental and water law. I want my career to have a positive impact on my community by helping to preserve and protect the resources of the state that many of us call home.

Interning at HCCA has given me the invaluable experience of contributing to conservation work in Gunnison County. I am forever grateful to Matt Reed and Julie Nania for so graciously teaching me about public lands, mining, and water law; giving me advice about how to research legal issues efficiently and effectively; and giving me experience in writing about and presenting on different topics within the fields of environmental and water law.

During my experience as an intern, I have had the opportunity to learn about many environmental laws, forest and resource management plans, water quality, and water quantity. Most importantly, both Julie and Matt demonstrated to me that knowledge of the law is a powerful way to protect the environment and make a difference in my community. My experience at HCCA has given me inspiration, energy, and confidence to continue to pursue my career goals. I would love to work with HCCA again in the future!
